The DJI Spark Drone Has Landed: Pre-Orders Starting Today
Big news today! The very desirable and anticipated DJI Spark drone has been finally unveiled, and the coolest fact is this – this smart mini-drone doesn’t require a remote. Yes, you heard me.
Pilots will only have to use their hands and gesture and the DJI Spark will gladly follow their lead.
Featuring the company’s latest technology in autonomous flight modes, this thing is user-friendly. Flying Spark seems really easy, even if you’ve never flown a drone before.- the videos below should provide you with a good example.
Once that issue is resolved, the drone will easily recognize and track an object you choose automatically, keeping it at the center of the frame while all the while having a 3D Sensing System help it navigate obstacles in front.
DJI Spark – Gesture Mode: ON
Focusing on the Gesture Mode, you should know that users can send Spark into the air and shoot a video with pre-defined flight paths, like circling, following or filming from straight up. Professionals will have an easier time achieving their purposes and using a mobile device to control your drone suddenly seems to yesteryear.
Weighing in at just 300 grams, the DJI Spark makes for a very portable flying machine and does not require a license. However, this comes with a drawback, and I am obviously referring to the camera. which can only deliver 1080p. Since most DJI drones don’t impress with video shots, some might get discouraged by this bit of information.
The DJI Spark is targeted at the typical gadget loving consumer – hello! As such, the drone will be available in five different colors, including Alpine White, Sky Blue, Meadow Green, Sunrise Yellow and Lava Red.
With a top speed of 31 mph (50 km/h), the Spark could easily get your drone racing muscles excited.
Please note that the drone will also be compatible with DJI Goggles for FPV flying. I can’t help but notice that the 16 minutes of flight means the Spark is better than most yet a bit short on power.
I think this toy was meant to keep you smiling and competing against other pilots, which is why I am not going to focus all that much on the camera and its results. Please note that the DJI Spark is already available for pre-order, and the package includes a battery, USB charger and three pairs of propellers.
It will start shipping in mid-June for $499 and a detailed unboxing will reveal exactly what that kind of cash will get you. By the way, the $699 DJI Spark Fly More Combo packs two batteries, four pairs of propellers, the remote controller, propeller guards, a charging hub, and shoulder bag. Have a good summer!
