Zenmuse X7 Is DJI’s 6K Movie Maker
I guess Hollywood directors have some serious competition nowadays, which might explain for some of the outrageous and possibly lame CGI recent movies brag about. However, our focus today will not be on blockbusters, but on cool drones and the sharp videos they can deliver.
Drones are looking cool and all, but the resolution and image quality of the pro movie cameras cannot be rivaled – or can they? DJI is trying to fix that, and the Zenmuse X7 is said to be able to capture sharp RAW videos in mid-air.
The first Super 35 digital camera aimed at professional drone cinematography, this thing promises 6K RAW videos with 14 stops of dynamic range, promising crisp, editing-ready video and more. Users have a choice between 16mm, 24mm, 35mm and 50mm lenses, all of which have a maximum f/2.8 aperture. Are you ready?
The Zenmuse X7 also packs some very useful software, with a Cinema Color System offering more flexibility in the editing booth.
Well, it all sounds fine and dandy – and it may look even better than that – but everything has a price. The base Zenmuse X7 costs $2,699 by itself, while every lens will set you back an extra $1,299.; please note that a four-lens bundle is available at $4,299.
Not really affordable; but, then again, this thing isn’t exactly a toy. Am I right?
