GoPro Karma Takes On The DJI Mavic

Decisions, decisions! With the recent release of GoPro’s Karma drone and people expecting the DJI Mavic to take flight any minute now, the drone industry is bound to get extremely volatile. The DJI Mavic isn’t out yet, so technical specs and info are somewhat limited – rumor based, to be honest; however, the Karma is out in the open.

The GoPro Karma is versatile, able to make use of the GoPro Hero 4, Hero 5 or Session cameras; furthermore, novices will be able to enjoy it and capture amazing shots thanks to it’s flight modes. The Karma doesn’t pack any sensors on the bottom, which means a definite ‘no-no’ when it comes to flying indoors. With a flight time of 20 minutes and a top speed of 35 mph, it’s a decent choice to be honest – nothing more.

The Mavic is supposed to be a foldable drone, portable, featuring obstacle avoidance systems just like the Phantom 4 – the Karma is already losing ground. The main disadvantage of the Mavic will probably be its removable camera, which might get people looking the other way.

Pricing for the GoPro Karma is $700, starting October 23rd, while the Mavic and its details are yet to be revealed. Come September 27th we’ll all find out more!
