Tiny drone could dissolve inside the body
Dr. Sung Kwon Cho of University Of Pittsburgh expects a tiny swimmer drone to be navigating inside the human body, through the bloodstream, pretty soon – anyone else remember the 1987 Innerspace Hollywood production, featuring Dennis Quaid? Check it out, it might offer a different perspective – sort of, since no one would actually know what happens inside their body.
Dr. Cho has just received some serious cash from the National Science Foundation to develop the technology required to achieve said results: precise bio-imaging and delivery of a drug to a specific target, like a cancer or tumor. Just in case you were wondering what would happen to said drone after it fulfils its purpose, this drone is bio-degradable and will automatically dissolve. It sounds futuristic, and it is; don’t expect to see little drones like this before 2020.
