Dogdrones Are Not A Joke
I am obviously laughing while I’m typing this, because.. well, this is funny. You are, obviously, acquainted with the traditional ‘pooper-scooper‘ and what it was designed to do – not a pretty image, but that’s the reality of owning pets.
Well, it seems someone decided that said concept needed to be upgraded for the 21-st century, which is why a startup is set to use an aerial drone and ground robot to clean up dog poop – that’s right.
It’s a ‘pooper’ job, but someone has to do it -or, do they? The Dutch team has had enough of the 220 million pounds of dog droppings left on the streets every year and decided to put drones in charge of this messy business – sorry for the doody jokes, but they are unavoidable.
The Dog drones are set to detect and scoop up the poop. How, do you ask?
Well, the drone has been equipped with cameras and thermal energy technology that transmits GPS coordinates of the feces to a rolling robot on the ground – I simply refuse to post that particular image; it ruins every Delta Force fantasy ever and the original purpose of said technology. Moving on.
Dogdrones are supposed to handle the 1.5 million dogs in the Netherlands, since their owners refuse to do so. This is serious, since there are bacteria and diseases worth considering.
People and other dogs are at risk, as well. Parasite eggs can survive for years and result in a danger of infection – besides the serious risk of being grossed out. Still laughing, although I understand the idea behind this unique project is a good one.
