Kitty Hawk – A Cartoon Name For The Perfect Toy
Come on, surely you agree; Kitty Hawk is an odd and amusing name, the kind you’d expect from a sexy character on Swat Kats – feel free to check out the clip below and reminds yourselves what cool cartoons and an incredibly thrilling and powerful soundtrack sound like. Now, before going all crazy and acting all Top Gun like, let’s move on.
Far from being one of the most expensive drones on the planet, and here we have to mention the $300,000 USD EHang 184, Kitty Hawk is the flying car every kid dreams on. Backed by Google founder Larry Page, this prototype aircraft is described as an all-electric aircraft and it was supposedly designed to operate over water without the need of a pilot’s license.
In theory, a consumer version will be available by the end of this year but by then you will have to decide if you want one – easiest choice ever. Oddly enough, we don’t know what the Kitty Hawk was meant to do nor do we know how much it would cost. Sounds like the perfect toy to me!
One thing is worth mentioning, and that’s that the company has no plans to ship the vehicle outside the US. Furthermore, you might also be interested to know that Zee.Aero, the other flying car company that Larry Page has invested in, is actually a part of Kitty Hawk. Which means things might get diverse really fast, and that’s good news for the end consumer.
According to the company, their mission is to make the dream of personal flight a reality. The Kitty Hawk Flyer is supposed to be safe, tested and legal to operate in the United States under the Ultralight category of FAA regulations. The open-seated, 220-pound contraption looks more like a flying bike to me, and that gets me excited. I’m sure I’m not the only one!
